Incoterms, widely-used terms of sale, are a set of 11 internationally recognized rules which define the responsibilities of sellers and buyers. After a company receives an inquiry about one or more of their products from a potential international customer, they issue a proforma invoice as a quote not only. A commercial invoice is a required document for the export and import clearance process. The form will gather all of the required information needed globally, down to the minute details and delivery information. In summary, despite the fact that a proforma and commercial invoice may look very similar, there are three key differences between the two documents: 1. A commercial invoice is a physical document thats created from the Customs Declaration and used to declare the items shipping in the shipment. A FedEx commercial invoice is the most used document by foreign customs agencies, is required for all undocumented product shipments that are traded internationally, and must accompany all international ground shipments.
